Description

“Welcome to THE LADY ANARCHIST CAFÉ, where ‘the occult and the everyday intermingle.’ It’s a phantasmic feminist space, where you can spot Dorothy from THE WIZARD OF OZ, Emma Goldman, the Bronte sisters and a host of other luminaries. The poems and stories in this visionary collection are by turns satiric, playful, utopian, psychedelic and gritty.” ― Elaine Equi, poet

  1. Lorraine Schein

The Lady Anarchist Café by Lorraine Schein is a fantastic mix of the mythical, the mundane and the marvelous. Now this may sound strange but Schein has the very unique ability to cross themes beyond singular focus. So much so that this collection takes on druids, feminism, the all-black dress of those on the streets and so much more. It is important to note that this is a dual-genre collection with both poetry and prose.
As a whole, The Lady Anarchist Café is a strikingly engaging collection that tantalises the reader with a sense of anarchism with tinges of humanism that act as a means of affirming our collective frustration, longing and hope for better. An extremely enjoyable read!
